My kid loves watching magic being performed on tv, so I thought I’d teach him some tricks he could impress his friends with at school. He has his own little gang of friends that think like he does and it’s pretty cute, I have to say.
These are tricks I had to teach him outside, but the problem was I hadn’t mowed the grass in a week. So before he got home from school, I pulled out my Worx WG775 CORDLESS electric lawn mower and cut the grass real quick. I’m so glad I got it because it makes the job so much faster and easier.
With the grass freshly cut, I taught my son some magic tricks on some nice clean grass that smelled amazing. He’s excited to show his friends when the time is right. It was fun to see him so interested in learning. I think he might want to be a professional magician, which I would fully support.
My friends and I usually get together once a week, mostly with each of us taking a turn with hosting. We’re always looking for different things to get into, so I got an idea after watching a movie about a magician. I could look up magic tricks to learn that would entertain us in a new way.
I started looking around online to see where I could buy the supplies for these tricks I was to learn. I found www.magictrickstore.com and was shocked at all the different items they had! I immediately had to go to the beginner’s category because I don’t know much about creating the illusion of magic.
They have all kinds of stuff, but for now I just got 2 DVDs to show me how to do certain tricks. I will definitely go back for more once I learn the basics. I even got a discount by being a member. Now I will go practice for this week’s get together!
Sometimes birthday parties or other parties can get stale and boring. Why not add a little excitement and hire a magician? Or how about a whole group that shows up at your party to perform different tricks and entertain adults or kids?
At www.thumbtack.com/events, you can type in ‘magicians’ and then the site will ask you a few questions. According to what kind of party you’re attending or hosting, the age of the people there, and how many will be there, you will be given a whole list of companies to choose from. Then you can get a free quote from those companies. It’s just that simple!
Before you book a single magician or a group of performers, make sure to look at any reviews you can find for quality assurance. If you want a true professional, ask if that is what they do full time, since some magicians just do the jobs for fun and may not take it seriously or be as good as the full time ones. Also find out what kind of experience they have and go to their website and see what kind of pictures are on there. If there are only pictures of themselves instead of them entertaining at a party, that’s a warning sign that you may not want to hire that particular magician.
Do your research to be assured of a great party, whatever kind it may be. Think of your budget also, as prices vary a lot and the better a magician is, the more they might cost. After you do your homework, you can go enjoy the party and not worry about anything!
Magic is one the oldest performing arts and the very first performance supposedly took place in 2700 B.C. by a magician named Dedi, but there is no solid proof of that. For certain though, the first magic trick was the cups and balls trick. After that, magic was associated with witchcraft and the occult, so it was on the decline.
Joseph Pinetti was a well known 18th century magician and was the first to perform the thumb tie effect. In the 19th century, Jean Eugene-Robert-Houdin was considered the father of modern magic and moved street magic to the stage. After he died, Harry Houdini was born and became famous for being able to escape many seemingly impossible situations. He is perhaps the most well known magician in history. Other famous magicians include David Copperfield, Criss Angel, and David Blaine.
There are many magic tricks/illusions that have been performed throughout history and still are to this day, maybe with enhancements or improvements. One of the most famous acts is of production, such as pulling a rabbit from an empty hat or the magician making themselves suddenly appear in cloud of smoke. There’s also the opposite of production, which is to make things vanish, such as their assistant disappearing, a coin or something else. Another popular trick is restoring an item to its original shape after being destroyed or torn up, such a dollar bill or a rope. Levitating and escaping are also well known illusions.
Magic has been performed on stage in various venues, on the street, on tv, at children’s birthday parties, as well as other places. Some magicians have added a shock value, such as sword swallowing, while other have added comedy, like Penn & Teller.
Many books have been published on the art of magic and many well kept secrets on illusions have been exposed. Despite these things, magic will always be entertaining, even if it’s not real. There will always be new tricks magicians will come up with that will amaze us and make us wonder how it was done. We all love to be entertained in one way or another, and magic will always be fascinating.
